We have a neighbor who served in the military for quite a lot of years and he has a patriotic service each 4th of July. It is early so people can get to the parade. There is a flag raising, a couple of talks and musical numbers.
This year the American Legion came to do a 21 gun salute at the flag ceremony. There are 2 members of our ward in this group. It was pretty awesome.
On to the parade. Grandpa Chuck brought his colorful hat and pretty much everyone had to try it on.
For years, some of the family has slept out on the parade route the night before and we sit and watch the parade there. This year we all bought seats in the bleachers. I think we bought so many that we were the only ones in this stand except for a couple of people.
Late on, we went to Nana's for a BBQ and pool party.
