Cabo day 3

Have I mentioned yet how fabulous this trip was? Well, it was. I need another one just like it, ok, want one. This is at the tip of the baja peninsula a short boat ride from the Cabo San Lucas marina. We rode out in a glass bottom boat and then they came back and picked us up later. This is the first thing we were taken out to see. The land formations are really unique and even though it sounds cheesy, breathtaking. Maybe that's a bit strong but it was an amazing arch.

Here we are after we were dropped off at Lover's Beach. Pretty cool place.

On the other side of the rocks at Lover's Beach and around the corner from the arch is Divorcee's Beach. I am guessing the looks of the ocean is the reason why.

I think I put the wrong picture in here, because Nelson and Brad went out and risked leaving widows on the beach.

We went snorkeling at Pelican Point which was just a short swim from our beach.

The water wasn't super clean but the fish were amazing. Usually you see lots of varieties but there were schools of each of them here. It was pretty awesome.

On our way back to the beach there was a really strong current and it got a bit scary at one point. We ended up walking along the rocks back to the beach instead of swimming because, well, we aren't olympic swimmers.

Is this so cute? There are little flea market type shopping booths everywhere and this little guy was on a leash in this lady's booth.

I guess this is an iguana, Mexican style with his little sombrero.

This place we called Costco tacos since it was across the street from Costco but doesn't really have anything to do with Costco. Maybe this place tied for best tacos because they had grilled shrimp tacos. It had the advantage of being able to sit down and had yummy agua de pina. Eating out is a mother's true love just in case everyone was wondering why I need to review what we ate at every turn.

literally, see my toes in the sand at the table? This place was so fun. It was definitely a highlight of the trip. They had blankets over the back of every chair in case you wanted to wrap up if it got breezy, brightly colored eclectic decorations and lights, a band and a balloon tying clown. The food was very good, also.

The band was very good and the view of the bay and the rocks were great.

Cabo San Lucas day 1 and 2

After a rough start from home (3 hour delay, airport food vouchers and gate changes) Bessie, oh excuse me, Isabel, welcomed us as we arrived in Mexico. Cows roaming freely was our entertainment as we sat in the heat waiting for the rental car situation to be worked out. Funny!

Who would've known that we would discover the town's best tacos accidentally on our first night in town? After eating elsewhere, they really were the best, and strangely the cheapest also. I think it was $5 for dinner for Nelson and I, tacos and sodas.

(blood curdling scream) oh. Pesos, not dollars. Whew, m&m's, milk and cereal sure went up.

And to top off our first day in Cabo, Thrifty flat top ice-cream cones. This is an Abbott family childhood memory from So. Cal so it was all the better.

All 10 of us in front of the condo that we and the Pearce's stayed in. Everyone else stayed in the house down the road.

We went exploring the beach behind the properties. This is the view from the house and us standing in the backyard.

We stayed a short walk from the Sheraton, where we got pool, etc. privileges. Edgar would set us up nicely with padded lounge chairs, towels, umbrellas and side tables whenever we asked and it was heaven.

This is the pool and hot tub we got to use at the house. It was an amazing house, bigger and much nicer than our house at home. What a treat!

Here we are after finally finding the "7th hole" taco shop. Long story short, it was at the 9th hole, which really made much more sense if we had thought about it, but it sure has given way to a lot of other "7th hole" experiences.

Dinner with a mariachi band serenading us, so fun.

That night, we walked along the waterfront and through town. Everywhere we went there were children selling chicklets and little trinkets. Grandpa couldn't resist negotiations as a form of entertainment, his and ours.

Michael's High School Graduation

Graduation day for Michael has come. This is the announcement we made and sent out to family and a few neighbors. It was our first attempt at a project in photoshop and I am happy with how it turned out for a first project.

In my last post, I said this has been a year of "last times" but this has also been a year of firsts. Our first High School graduate.

The famous "O" rock. Don't mind the rubble all around. Michael was a member of the last graduating class of the "old" Orem High. During this school year, they have been building the "new" Orem High next door and this shows some of the construction mess. Katie gets to be a member of the first actual class in the new building because she had driver's ed next week.

Family that came to graduation, thanks for coming guys! I was worried the commencement ceremony would be boring and too long but I actually enjoyed it. I suppose you enjoy anything your child is involved in. We really enjoyed the whole day!
